The Biggest Swimming Pool on Earth

Photobucket
If you like doing laps in the swimming pool, you might want to stock up on the energy drinks before diving in to this one.

It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115ft deep end and holds 66 million gallons of water.

Yesterday the Guinness Book of Records named the vast pool beside the sea in Chile as the biggest in the world.

But if you fancy splashing out on one of your own - and you have the space to accommodate it - then beware: This one took five years to build, cost nearly 1billion and the annual maintenance bill will be 2million.

The man-made saltwater lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to the San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile's southern coast, since it opened last month.

Its turquoise waters are so crystal clear that you can see the bottom even in the deep end.

It dwarfs the world's second biggest pool, the Orthlieb - nicknamed the Big Splash - in Morocco, which is a mere 150 yards long and 100 yards wide. An Olympicsize pool measures some 50 yards by 25 yards.

Chile's monster pool uses a computer- controlled suction and filtration system to keep fresh seawater in permanent circulation, drawing it in from the ocean at one end and pumping it out at the other.

The sun warms the water to 26c, nine degrees warmer than the adjoining sea.

Chilean biochemist Fernando Fischmann, whose Crystal Lagoons Corporation designed the pool, said advanced engineering meant his company could build 'an impressive artificial paradise' even in inhospitable areas.

'As long as we have access to unlimited seawater, we can make it work, and it causes no damage to the ocean.'

Are You A Genius or Not?

Give this more than 30 seconds. Pretty Cool. After you watch it for 30 seconds or so... read what it says below. If you see this lady turning in clockwise you are using your right brain. If you see it the other way, you are using left brain.

Some people do see both ways, but most people see it only one way.

If you try to see it the other way and if you do see, your IQ is above 160 which is almost a genius. Then see if you can make her go one way and then the other by shifting the brain's current.

Its better to judge rather to recieve a verdict..

Here is a little piece about inspirational quotes on perception, the pitfalls it can lead to in judging people and my take on them.

There is little room left for wisdom when one is full of judgment. - Malcolm Hein

How can I determine the real you when I have already pre-judge you without you knowing it? Indeed this is not only unfair but I also deprive myself of knowing who you really are.

A mistake in judgment isn't fatal, but too much anxiety about judgment is. - Pauline Kael

Indeed anticipating an outcome and being jittery about it saps a lot of mental energy better conserved than wasted. Acceptance of a decision is cushioned by the consoling thought that it was arrived at without due haste.

If you judge people, you have no time to love them. - Mother Teresa

To assess and evaluate people, we scrutinize and specify but to love is to gloss over the flaws and to highlight the best features of the one loved.

I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made. - Franklin D. Roosevelt

You can evaluate me on the quality of interactions I have made with others; however, don't forget the motives and characters of the persons that I have dealt with. The more atrocious and repugnant my enemies are, the lesser is my own degree of atrocity and repugnance.

Good judgment comes from experience. And where does experience come from? Experience comes from bad judgment. - Mark Twain

This is a far better way of putting it than, "You're looking for an employee with experience but how can I get experience if you won't employ me?"

Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers. - Francois Voltaire

Before we raise a question, the germ of the possible answer is already known to us.

Portable apps users unite, you have nuthin' to lose but your flash drives

Freedom from using memory hungry apps looms on the horizon. Portability is the hottest buzz word and there is a dedicated website for the PC enthusiast in us who just hate being tied down to the likes of MS Office or Corel WordPerfect. Your key to freedom is here: http://portableapps.com/

I use Portable Apps in my 2GB PNY flash drive, and I find it very useful for password management using KeePass Portable. Using KeePass portable, I am able to generate strong passwords for my accounts, then keep these passwords in the thumb drive.

(For one who always forgets usernames and passwords, KeePass is a lifesaver! :) )

KeePass will even open the URL for you, and AutoType your username and password.

KeePass homepage: http://keepass.info/
KeePass Portable: http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/keepass_portable

I also recommend Portable Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird so you can carry your bookmarks and email wherever you go.

First of all what is VoIP, well it stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. It means you can make free internet phone calls when your in a Wi-Fi Hotspot!!! Sounds great right!!!! You can talk all you want without paying anything just put a wireless router on your computer and poof!!!! Your home turns into a Wifi Hotspot!!!! An example of a cell that has this feature is the Nokia E51, it cost around 14,000 pesos, kinda cheap if you think about the unlimited calls you could make..So what are you waiting for, sell your current unit or rob the McDonalds or Jollibee(Warning!!!
